Oscilloscopes, used to measure waveform properties including amplitude, frequency, and time intervals, are useful in electrical component operation, such as electrocardiograms, and general laboratory applications. Consideration is required for cathode-ray (CRO) versus digital storage (DSO) oscilloscope preference – the latter enabling direct calculation and recording of waveform data. Modern DSO devices can include fast analog-to-digital converters and digital signal processors. CRO devices can offer robust performance and reduced price.
